Create a pause

An urgent calendar can leave very little room for the decisions that deserve reflection. Set aside a small block of time with one question in mind.

Write before you solve

Describe the decision and the story you’re telling yourself about it. Seeing your thoughts on the page can help you notice assumptions that are harder to hear in your head.

Bring it to a conversation

Choose someone who can listen carefully and challenge your thinking. A useful conversation doesn’t have to deliver an immediate answer; it can help you see the question more clearly.
